The Past continues to come back

by Jonathan on Dec.29, 2008, under Photos

Every year, if I’m in New York, I get together with friends and family over the Channuka holiday and share food, presents and just festive fun. We’re not religious by any means, but we love exchanging presents in my family. This year, my Aunt Gail went one step further, instead of the usual presents she gets me, she found a number of photo’s of me, dating back to when I was but a wee tot. I was adopted, so the earliest photos of me would have to be from my adoptive family. Turns out, they have a photo of me, the DAY before I was adopted. It is, the earliest photo of me that exists to our knowledge. And yes, I was once, that cute.

The winter of my discontent…

by Jonathan on Dec.04, 2008, under Animals

I finally started unpacking the cameras. The dit has been in it’s bag under my desk since the day we moved in, always keep that close to hand, but finally got the LF and MF indoors. Ever since Nicolai moved out west, I’ve almost all but stopped shooting. The depression probably didn’t help either.

However, now that I’m almost back to normal, (normal, bwahahaha) I’m itching to start shooting and develop again. So broke out the Toyo last night and ran it through it’s paces to make sure everything is still working, and lo and behold, it’s still happy. Did the same with the Kiev, and even shot a roid of Del. The film has to be about 3 years old, so it’s got this great reddish effect going on.

Maybe in a few weeks when time starts to clear up a bit, I’ll start taking the LF out to this nature trail near me and see what I can see.

Fuck The South

by Jonathan on Nov.05, 2008, under Politics

God, I love this rant. It’s so dead on, it’s scary. Best quote from it?

“Well this gravy train is fucking over. Take your liberal-bashing, federal-tax-leaching, confederate-flag-waving, holier-than-thou, hyporciritcal bullshit and shove it up your ass. And no, you can’t have your fucking convention in New York next time. Fuck off.”

Where were you?

by Jonathan on Nov.04, 2008, under Politics

When history was made? Barack Obama, the first african-american has been elected President of the United States of America. I must say, for someone who’s a-political as I am, recognize the importance of tonights election.

McCain, is a real patriot. A real American. He did not fight when Obama won, and he looks as if he wants the country to move forward, and heal itself. This is a man who loves his country.

Water in Motion

by Jonathan on Nov.04, 2008, under Landscape

Two large format photos I took up in the Catskills. Richie, Nicolai and myself ran up to Catskill Mountain to do some shooting, but between dicking around, eating and just generally being slackers we got up there with maybe an hours worth of shooting light. Both images were long exposures. The waterfall itself was a 30 second exposure, while the one with the rocks was more of a 5-10 sec exposure. Both were developed at home, and are both Tmax 4×5 film.

Serendipty

by Jonathan on Nov.03, 2008, under Animals

Here’s two photos of my bigger yaboo, named Serendipity, or Dippy, or Dipshit when she’s mis-behaving. She was left on the side of the road near our old home, and she just wandered over and scared the bejeezus out of my wife. Long story short, she fast became a member of the family and is now much loved by all.
